Rich colours are very evident this year. Grey is still a good neutral choice but there are now bolder colours like brown-blacks, ultraviolet and striking greens along with the earthy reds and yellows which are expected to push out cooler neutrals.

Furniture is turning darker this year with a revival for retro glamour. Art deco sideboards are in abundance and boast a fusion of complimenting drawer and door furniture in the form of interesting colours or metal finishes. Designer inspired chairs remain on point and provide an unrivalled cool stylish and contemporary a look.

Global influences are getting a foothold, with Asian collections showcasing bold colours and patterns. Textiles take on a raw feel with shades of Grey and Ochre along with Terracotta which is rumoured to become popular over the coming year.

Texture is also trending this season with a handmade feel such as rattan and wicker chairs and tables. Fabrics will include lots of embellishments like raw edges and applique details to add variety and interest to our living spaces.

Love them or hate them, house plants and botanicals continue to make their way into our homes following last year’s botanical look. This year continues the look with the retro Swiss cheese plant featuring palm leaves on poster prints and cushion covers mixed with metallic and marbles. The patterned plant has increased in popularity and the prayer plant makes an appearance again. Keep up with the trend and add striking Green plants or prints to bold coloured feature wall areas to be considered a dedicated follower of fashion!

Metallic accents are not going anywhere, in fact, they start the first quarter of the year stronger than ever before. Copper and Rose Gold remain firm favourites but brass furniture is starting to make a stance. Brass furniture set against a backdrop of Emerald Green or Soft Pink are just two ways to introduce a touch of luxury to any room. Don't underestimate the partnership between brass and marble lighting, it's on trend for a reason!

Pineapples are still around along with cacti which are very popular as real and artificial plants contained in metallic pots look stunning set off against this year's stylish colours.

But, let’s not forget Wabi-Sabi. The ancient Japanese philosophy dictates that imperfection and the transient nature of life is alright. It’s more about finding the beauty with imperfection and things that are incomplete. So, search for something you have that is old, worn or maybe cracked and scratched. Instead of getting rid of it, embrace its natural beauty and show it off. Certain rugs are made specifically to show an imperfection and we feel that rugs will feature heavily during 2018 and beyond.

There is a move towards comfort in sofas this year. Sofas with curved, plump shapes and luscious velvet button backs in luxurious colours are in. Daybeds with headrests that move are "very now" along with space saving tables. Swivelling, extendable coffee tables made from composite and glass materials are designed to fit in with the modern way of living. Marble tables are considered cool and are featuring this season at a cost that won't break the bank.
